Sub Pop has teamed up with long-running Canadian punk icons Fucked Up for an exciting new 7″ single featuring two brand-new, exclusive songs that speak to both personal and societal struggles. The 7″ includes the heartfelt “Disabuse” and the socially charged “Self Driving Man,” both of which offer a raw, unfiltered look at the world through the lens of punk.

“Disabuse” – A Personal Anthem for Overcoming Bullying

“Disabuse” marks a deeply personal track from Fucked Up’s lead singer, Damian Abraham. Written for his daughter, the song addresses the painful realities of bullying and intimidation that many children face. Through its aggressive yet poignant lyrics, Damian captures the emotional turmoil of watching a loved one go through such experiences, offering a message of empowerment and defiance.

Out now on all streaming platforms, “Disabuse” showcases Fucked Up’s ability to blend punk’s chaotic energy with powerful storytelling, making it a track that resonates not only with punk fans but with anyone who has faced adversity.

“Self Driving Man” – A Critique of Automation and Progress

On the B-side, “Self Driving Man” takes a broader social commentary on the growing out-of-control automation in our world. As technology continues to advance at breakneck speed, Fucked Up uses this track to wrestle with the idea of progress and the dehumanizing aspects of faceless, automated systems. The song wrestles with the growing dystopia of automation and its potential consequences, making it a fitting addition to their already politically charged discography.

Limited Edition Sleeve for the Hardcore Fans

For fans who want to add something special to their collection, Sub Pop is offering a limited alternate sleeve for the 7″ inspired by Poison Idea’s iconic 1990 Sub Pop Singles Club 7″ design. Fans can choose between the standard jacket or the limited sleeve—although, in true collector fashion, it’s probably best to grab both!
